The website of CNN world news is designed very compact and clear, with the red column to categorize news from different areas and the white background serves as a good set up for making hard news more reliable and persuasive.

A big picture of a close-shot of the president of Japan is very eye-catch packed with the interpretation of the picture and readers a general idea of what this news is talking about. The story highlights in the left side of the page uses four sentences summarizing the core idea of this news story, which is also follow the style of the website.

This news story only has 230 words but is divided into 10 paragraphs. the structure is simple and very clear to scan the whole story.

However, strictly speaking, this story more likes a history review rather than a hard news or world news because there are three paragraphs related to the Japanese and Korean history and with two paragraphs’ interviews talking about the history.

Admittedly, this news happened based on the history and would be well illustrated if we reported from the historical perspective, but if the story contained with too much information about history without other analyze or talking from a single angle or personal angle, the borderline seems be blurred. That is why I think this news is kind of a little bit off the topic.

Besides, the interview and the history review interlaced together, which makes the structure of the whole story seemed disorder, especially for those who don’t know very well about the relationship between Japan and Korea.

And it would be better if the author focus on one angle and add more experts’ opinion or the expectation of the future of Japan and Korea.
